Record Breaking Inter Milan Closes In On Europe

After having equalized the number of consecutive victories of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in their respective leagues, Inter Milan are now set to equalize the record of highest number of consecutive wins among the European top leagues.

Inter Milan appear to be reforming into a very ambitious team in the elite area of European football, something last seen converted into silverware back in the golden age of Suarez and Herrera.

Last Sunday the Nerazzurri, by winning the game against Chievo Verona, collected their 15th victory in a row and equalized the records in European football that was previously set by Real Madrid in the 1960/1961 season and by Bayern Munich in 2005.

But it is not enough; If Inter Milan would win the upcoming Serie A match against Cagliari, then the club from Milan will go into history as the top club that has won the highest number of matches in a row.

This is measured in only the most prestigious European tournaments (the Italian Serie A, the English Premier League, The Spanish Liga, the German Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1).

Inter Milan Coach Mancini has often pointed out in interviews that he does not see obtaining new records as something to give much importance to. However, Inter Milan has now a unique chance to set a new historical record in European football.

If they can continue to collect consecutive wins until the final Scudetto matchday, then they would beat the record of the minor European leagues (which belongs to Celtic with 25 victories in a row) and would therefore become the kings of records in European football.
